Power To Choose

A Motivational Mantra from the Metabolic Nostradamus — Your past doesn’t get the final say—your future is shaped by the meaning you choose to make from it.

MOTIVATIONAL MANTRA

Have you ever explored,
Your deepest darkside?
Sifting thru what hurt you,
The Program, personified.

Growing Up, with that Feeling,
They'd be better without you.
Makes it hard to see the world
Like, it won't, too.

How we live with ourselves,
In the face of win or lose,
Can, make or break your future
With the Power to Choose.

As a Trauma-bond baby,
Raised in yelling and violence.
Then, Falling out of orbit,
To the darkness of silence.

With a Single working mom,
My, time was my own.
Far Away, in my room.
From the guys she brought home.

She was Lookin for Love,
In all the wrong places,
Trauma bonding with losers.
Getting smacked, cold faceless.

Turned away at the door,
Meant I wandered on my own.
Was a latchkey kid,
But they changed the locks, on my home.

When she starts a new family,
pregnant with, my brother,
Then she sees, her mistakes,
And just begins, with another.

Sorry sap, takes her in.
With an infant and a kid.
In his parent's double-wide.
I was scared where I lived.

Had me sleeping on a porch,
But it's Wrapped, in plastic.
The blankets are Electric,
Don't be so, Dramatic!

My last good Christmas,
Had the OG Nintendo.
Steady Learning every level,
Taught me not to let go.

How we live with ourselves,
In the face of win or lose,
Can, make or break your future
With the Power to Choose.

The Weekends at my dad's,
Had a list at the door.
Made to earn gold stars,
For the love that kept Score.

When you're Leading with fear,
It just, teaches him shame.
By chasing compliance,
You prove the boy is not to blame.

Home invaded while he slept,
But, somehow survived.
They, hammered half his brain,
Leaving just the one side.

When faced, with a challenge,
And the chance, to grow,
He might've rewired, his brain,
And carried on, with the show.

But instead, he accepted,
A lower level of living.
Left with Wanting More, but,
Not, Rebuilding.

From, having a bed,
In my father's townhouse,
Then, moved to the basement,
On a Pull-out, couch.

His new, wife and family,
All aboard for the ride.
Except, for the boy,
From the previous bride.

If we Investigate the Self.
And Examine the clues,
You'll find you're never lost,
When you have the right tools.

How we live with ourselves,
In the face of, win or lose,
Can, make or break your future
With the Power to Choose!
